The School Representative Council (SRC) was established in Semester Two, 2008.
SRCs provide students many and varied opportunities to participate actively in school life. Through the involvement
in democratic decision making processes students receive a voice, and are able to action issues that have significance
for them. The benefits are reciprocal, with enhanced understanding, skills and capacity building and improved
grounds and facilities.
The School Representative Council is accountable both to students, and Management, and is not a parallel decision
making body.
One student from each class was nominated by staff to form the 2008 Election Committee. The Committee, guided
by Dili International School Teacher Ms Jannete Curtain, planned cooperatively to develop procedures and timelines
to facilitate the nomination of SRC Class Representatives and School Captains.
