Preschool/PrimaryCurriculum and Policy at Dili International School is underpinned by the National Goals for Schooling in the 21st Century for all students. These goals focus on the learning outcomes of students, and provide a framework for national reporting on student achievement and for accountability by schools. It acknowledges the capacity of all young people to learn, and the role of schooling in developing that capacity. It also acknowledges the role of parents as the first educators of their children and the central role of teachers in the learning process. It recognizes that schooling provides a foundation for young peoples’ intellectual, physical, social, moral, spiritual and aesthetic development. By providing a supportive and nurturing environment, schooling contributes to the development of students’ sense of self-worth, enthusiasm for learning and optimism for the future. The goals establish a foundation for action for school authorities and all those who seek the best possible educational outcomes for young people. The adoption of these goals by Dili International School entails a commitment to collaboration for the purposes of: At Dili International School an Australian Curriculum Framework is used when planning and monitoring teaching and learning programs for students in Preschool to Grade 7. It articulates six key principals that are reflected in National goals for schooling in the twenty-first century and are sufficiently broad to enable school management and teachers to develop and implement innovative programs reflecting varied pedagogical approaches. Australian National Benchmarking is embedded within the system which ensures consistency and quality. This curriculum enables Dili International School to incorporate and celebrate the culture of Timor Leste and cultures of the many other countries that form our international school community. This, while educating our learners to face the many complex, diverse global and local, social, economic, political and environmental issues of our time. Dili International School also complies with the requirements of the Council of International Schools with whom it is currently pursuing membership and accreditation. Implementation and monitoring of the curriculum across the school is the responsibility of the Principal. Monitoring also occurs through external agencies. |
