Our Behavior CodeDili International School provides a safe, caring and supportive learning environment which operates primarily on the concepts of respect and responsibility. The DIS Code of Behaviour applies to and is for the protection and well-being of DIS and all members of the DIS community. Students and their families are informed of the Code upon commencement and share a collective responsibility for positive student behaviour. Five Tenets
All school rules are logical extensions of these five basic tenets. It is the responsibility of staff at DIS to model and apply the Code of Behaviour consistently in order to facilitate a safe and supportive school environment, which encourages the development of self-confidence, self-discipline, consideration, respect and empathy. It is the responsibility of students and parents to become familiar with, model and reinforce the Code of Behaviour. Staff, are available to further discuss the Code. Behaviour ManagementAll classes have a Positive Behaviour Management System that is developed and monitored by the teacher/s of that class. The focus is on addressing antecedents, in order to prevent behaviours occurring in the first instance. For persistent minor behaviours, and serious behaviours, intervention will be required by the principal and the students parents. Serious behaviours include verbal or physical assault of staff and / or students, theft, inappropriate use of mobile phones / laptops / internet, leaving school grounds without prior permission, smoking or consumption of alcohol at any school activity and sexual activity. Parents are encouraged to discuss with the teacher or view the Positive Behaviour Management System in their childs classroom. Although these are different from class to class they reflect the values of DIS and the five core expectations surrounding respect and responsibility. Teachers will maintain individual Student Behaviour Records for repeat minor and serious behaviours. In the event of a breach the follow steps will be followed and recorded:
Parents will automatically be advised by telephone and / or letter if steps 7–9 are required. DIS believes the following practices contribute to the development of well disciplined, empathetic, respectful students. Dili International School :
