The Government of Timor Leste is currently not in a position to extend official accreditation to Dili International School or any other non government School in Timor Leste. This is because legislation has not yet been enacted to accommodate foreign or private schools. DIS operates with the approval of the Education Ministry who welcome our existence and when the necessary legislation is in place will progress our accreditation and registration.

DIS maintains voluntary compliance with the policy and procedures of the Australian Education Department and holds membership with as well as adheres to the Principles of the Council of International Schools.

As a further insurance to ensure ongoing compliance with International standards of best practice, Dili International School employs Principals who have previously held this position elsewhere. DIS also only employs class teachers who meet recognized international qualifications and performance standards.

DIS is the benchmarked school in East Timor by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
