Dili International School, Timor Leste's first international school, was established in 2003. Our families and staff represent 24 nationalities. This diversity, as well as our curriculum and extracurricular programmes, aims to provide a well-rounded education and holistic experience for our students and their families within our community. We take particular care to allow for children to make a smooth educational transition from country to country.

In a further attempt to meet the needs of our diverse community we tailor our holidays to meet the holiday needs of both hemispheres and have two long breaks of 5 weeks at the beginning of the calendar year and in the middle of the calendar year.

Our school year commences in January but our individualized teaching style and team teaching approach means that students joining us from either of the school hemisphere calendars can be appropriately placed and well accommodated.

Dili International School actively encourages and nurtures learning and a love of learning through its secure, supportive, inclusive and stimulating environment. Our School is flexible and works to meet the specific needs of individual students.

Our curriculum is modelled on the Australian Education system, while in Years 7 to 10 we use the Middle Years Program (MYP) of the highly-acclaimed International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, of which we are a Candidate School. As well as meeting the requirements of the Australian National Educational Profiles and the IB MYP, we also incorporate Timorese and International perspectives into our program through adhering to principals espoused by the Council of International Schools.

It is a high priority of the Dili International School to create employment and skill development for the people of Timor Leste and to be a constructive part of our local community. We are committed to participating in community service projects and genuinely strive to play a part in assisting the development of Timor Leste.
